Docking Options

Gelso Bay

Suitable for docking in calm weather conditions. Anchor off the beach to the northeast of the jetty in depths between 3-10 meters. The bottom is rocky, and depths drop off quickly.

Porto Di Levante

Located on the east side of the island, north of the ferry terminal. You can anchor clear of the moorings. This bay is well-protected from northern and western winds. The bottom is sandy with good holding, especially in the northern part of the bay. It’s possible to tie the dinghy to the restaurant platform for easy access to the island’s amenities.

Porto Di Ponente

Things to Do on Vulcano Island

Hiking to the Crater

One of the must-do activities on Vulcano Island is a hike to the active maw of the volcano. The hike takes about an hour, covering roughly 800 meters, leading to a spectacular view of the entire chain of Aeolian Islands to the north and Sicily to the south.
