Sailing Area: Porto Torres, Sardinia

Porto Torres

Porto Torres is a large commercial port 11 miles southeast of the Fornelli Passage. The long breakwater on the west side of Porto Torres was built to protect the oil terminal.

When navigating, do not confuse Porto Torres’s lights with those of the oil terminal to the west. With strong winds, there is often a swell off the oil terminal breakwater, so it is advisable to keep at least half a mile off.

Sailors tips

Porto Torres

The town is significant and pleasant, with lovely shops & restaurants, but consider the hectic port bustles and buzzes with ferries, cargo, big ships and fishing boats.
