Alghero is a city on the northwest coast of Sardinia, Italy, surrounded by ancient walls. This Catalan city has roots in its historical past, characterised by Aragonese domination. The most significant imprint is visible in the architecture, the style of its buildings, and the splendid walls that, with their charm, make the atmosphere magical.

The port is in the heart of the old town, where you can find many shops, restaurants, and gelaterie (ice cream shops).

Approach

As you approach, you will see the old town of Alghero. Care is needed when entering, especially with NW winds, as there can be a swell at the entrance.

Explore the Area

It is recommended to rent a car and explore the area. West of Alghero, you’ll find Capo Caccia and Isola Piana with outstanding views. Be sure to visit the Neptune’s Cave, a must-see attraction.
