Marina Gouvia, Corfu, Ionian Islands

Gouvia marina in Corfu is the favorite starting point for the Ionian Islands dream sailing adventure. It is located in a spacious enclosed bay in a prime location, right on the edge of Kontokali town, 2.5 NM to the NW of Corfu port. When approaching from the N and E, Nisis Vidho is conspicuous across from the large port. SE of the entrance to the Gouvion bay is the smaller Lazareto islet (Nisis Gouvino).
When entering the bay, note the S end of the entrance is obstructed by a shallow mud bank. Keep to the deeper N side. There are red & green buoys marking the deeper channel (9m) which are also the main guiding lights at night.

To the NE of the bay, along the shore, there are some free anchoring spots in 5-12 m depths with good shelter from the wind.
No anchoring is allowed within the N part of the bay itself. The marina fills the entire S part, and has a mooring capacity of 1,235 yachts, on both permanent and floating pontoons, while there are also dry dock facilities for approximately 520 yachts.
Boats are required to call in upon arrival to receive instructions at VHF Ch 16, 69 (24/7). Berths can be booked ahead of time by phone or online. Distribution of berths is based on the dimensions of the boats. Gouvia Marina is fully organized, and can accommodate boats up to 80 m long with up to 5.5 m draft (3.5-7 m depths). Berths are generally sheltered from the winds, except ones in the far W where in N/NE winds my become uncomfortable.
At all berths electricity is available (220V and 380V) as well as fresh water. There is a fuel dock at the NW end of the quay. You may experience long ques, especially on Saturdays. All repairs can be done at the marina, and all manner of facilities can be found around town (Nautilus Yacht Chandlers Tel.:+30 266 109 0343). There is a shuttle service, though patience is required.
