Sailing Area: Lakka bay, Paxoi, Ionian islands

Sailing from Petriti (corfu) to Lakka bay (Paxoi) in the Ionian islands Greece (a 20 NM sail)

Lakka bay 39º14′.65N 20 07′.75E – Lights at entrance [FL.R.2S.3M, FL.G.2S.3M]; The port is located at the N end of Paxoi island, 7 NM off the S tip of Kerkira island (Corfu). When approaching, the lighthouse on the W is visible [FL(3).24S.20M]; From the N and E, you can see the port lights as you get closer.
Anchor wherever is convenient. The SE side is shallower, and can smell of sewage, though smaller boats can go bow-to the quay near the tavernas. It is possible to take a long line to the NW shore. The bottom is sand & weed with good holding (2-5 m deep).
The naturally curved bay provides good shelter from the prevailing winds from the NW. When wind is NE, tuck into the E side as far as possible.
Service key operated water & electricity boxes are available on quay. Most provisions can be obtained.
This is an attractive and lively place with turquoise waters which is popular in the summer.

Sailors tips

Lakka bay

The bay has plenty of room for a Mediterranean dock and an arranged dock (if you hope to catch a spot come early).

Thinks to do:

A recommended hike up the hill about 25 minutes walk to the lighthouse), You can take a tour to the island’s blue caves and beaches. Get a map and explanation + a large cooler with ice (recommended only when the sea is quiet and comfortable.
