Eastern Gulf · 7-Day Sailing Route — Day-by-Day Itinerary from Salak Phet to Koh Kut & Back
The recommended week through the Koh Chang archipelago · Day 1 base setup & Salak Phet · Day 2 outer islands & Koh Mak · Day 3 Koh Mak full day (Koh Kham + Ao Phra) · Day 4 Koh Rang sanctuary & cross to Koh Kut N (Captain Hook’s) · Day 5 Koh Kut S (Klong Chao + Ao Phrao river trip) · Day 6 Ao Salat & return through Koh Rang · Day 7 Koh Mak farewell & back to base. ~85 NM total · 4-6 hours sailing per day · 6 nights aboard.
Photos & coordinates: see the interactive map below · all 7 docking pages linked at the bottom · charts 120 + 151
This is the route Sigal would sail. Seven days, six nights aboard, starting and ending at Salak Phet (Island Spirit Yacht Charter base), heading south through the cluster to Koh Kut, looping back through Koh Rang Marine Park. Built around the NE-monsoon wind direction (Nov-Mar prevailing) so every overnight is in protected water · daylight-only sailing (sunset ~17:45 · anchored by 16:00) · plenty of slack time at the anchorages because this is not a delivery, it’s a holiday. If you have 10 days, add 1 night each at Koh Mak, Koh Rang, and Koh Kut. If you have 14 days, slow everything down.

→ Hideout option: 20-min taxi from A34 Ao Salat to Bann Makok for lunch · then water taxi to Captain Hook’s for cocktails.

If light winds (rare during NE monsoon, more common Mar-Apr):

→ More motoring than sailing on light-wind days.
