Overview

Zakynthos (Zante Island) lies south of Kefalonia. This video showcases the best anchorages around the island.

Blue Caves Agios Nikolaos

Coordinates: 37° 55′ 46″ N, 20° 42′ 20″ E

Featuring spectacular cliffs and caves, you can anchor with a line ashore in 7-9m on the southern corner. It is very busy with tour boats moving around between the caves. The bottom is sand.

Agios Nikolaos

Coordinates: 37° 54′ 23″ N, 20° 42′ 26″ E

A bay on the northern tip of Zakynthos. You can go stern on the southern side of the bay or to the north of the ferry quay. The depth drops off quickly in the bay. A swell, trip boats, and ferries can make anchoring in the bay uncomfortable.

Zakynthos

Coordinates: 37° 47′ 7″ N, 20° 54′ 3″ E

You can go stern on the NE or NW quays. The bottom is mud, providing good holding. Anchoring inside the harbour is prohibited.

Keri

Coordinates: 37° 41′ 1″ N, 20° 50′ 21″ E

An anchorage on the SW side of a large bay, recommended for overnight stays. Anchoring is permitted more than 100m from the shore. Good shelter from the NW-W wind, but open to the S & E. The bottom is sand and small rocks.

Porto Vromi

Coordinates: 37° 49′ 19″ N, 20° 37′ 57″ E

A magnificent quiet and deep cove where you can anchor and take a long line ashore. Not recommended at night. The bottom is rocky.

Shipwreck Beach

Coordinates: 37° 51′ 37″ N, 20° 37′ 26″ E

Anchor in 7-10m on sand. This iconic beach is a must-visit.
