SE of Meganisi lies Kastos, a small, quiet island.

Approach

From the North: The flat islet of Prasonisi and the houses of Kastos will be visible.

From the South: You’ll see the village as you round the headland.

Mooring

Go stern inside the breakwater on either side of the entrance. There is limited space at the quay.

In Calm Weather, You Can Anchor In:

  • South of the port: 38°33’37.0″N 20°54’30.0″E
  • Another anchorage: 38°34’17″N 20°54’53″E

Facilities

There is a small mini market, nice tavernas, and cafes. Another sheltered harbour called Sarakiniko is on the opposite side of the village. When leaving, you have quick access to other islands without having to sail around the rest of Kastos, which is convenient if you’re staying for a night and need to leave early to reach the next destination.

Sailors tips

Note this Harbour in Kastos Island:

Another sheltered harbour called Sarakiniko; is on the opposite side of the village, and one doesn’t have to sail around the island; when leaving to go elsewhere, one has very quick access to the other islands without having to go around the rest of the island if one is just there for a night and having to try to leave early to get to the next island before others do.
