Assos Kefalonia Sailing and Mooring Guide

Assos Kefalonia

Coordinates: 38° 22′ 44″ N, 20° 32′ 20″ E

Approach

A natural harbour lies on the west coast. Closer in, you’ll see the houses of the village. The harbour is open to the north. Refer to the Navionics map for the swimming zone.

Mooring

You can moor at the small village quay, keeping a 3m distance away from the wall due to stones. Alternatively, you can anchor in the bay outside the swimming area and local moorings with long lines ashore. The bottom is mud, sand, and weed; not everywhere has good holding. With strong NW winds, it’s uncomfortable, and there is no nearby shelter as the swell affects the south side as well.

Facilities

Nice taverns and shops ashore. This magical village from the 16th century is worth a visit.
