Top Attractions and Activities on Serifos Island

Chora

The island’s main town, Chora, is a must-visit destination for its winding alleys, white-washed houses, and stunning views over the Aegean Sea. Be sure to visit the Venetian castle at the top of the town, which offers breathtaking panoramic views.

Livadi

Anchorages Around Serifos Island

Serifos Island has several anchorages where sailors can moor their boats, including Livadi Bay and Koutalas Bay. Livadi Bay is the island’s main port, with all the necessary facilities for sailors, including water, fuel, and provisions. Koutalas Bay is a more secluded anchorage, with a small taverna where sailors can enjoy a meal and a cold drink.

  • Livadi Marina (37° 8′ 32″N, 24° 30′ 58″E) – Scroll down to see a video of the marina. No moorings, some berths have lazy lines, and some are alongside. Inside the marina, there’s a narrow space to maneuver.
  • Livadi Bay North (37° 8′ 46″N, 24° 31′ 11″E) – The bottom is sand and algae.
  • Koutalas (37° 8.179’N, 24° 27.447’E) – A nice open bay on the S side of Serifos. You can anchor in either of the two coves at the head of the bay. In the NE cove, anchor in 5-10m, the bottom is sand with good holding. In the NW cove, care is needed since there are two large mooring chains running out from the beach. You can anchor in 6-10m on sand. Approach from the SW. Attention – there are rocks on both sides of the entrance.
  • Megalo Livadi (37° 8.5’N, 24° 25.8’E) – Nice and quiet spot. The bottom is sand.

Serifos Island lies between Kithnos and Milos, with a wonderful “chora” (old town) up on the hill. The port of Livadi is at the head of a bay on the SE corner of the island. Care is needed in the Meltemi as strong gusts blow from the south coast.

Livadi: the town has plenty of small supermarkets and a Carrefour opposite the harbor. There are some coffee shops, restaurants with free WiFi and a bank with ATM. There is also a sandy beach at the end of the bay.
