Athens, the capital and largest city in Greece, is a bustling metropolis that combines the ancient and modern with countless historical sites, museums, and attractions. Athens is also the anchor of yacht charter companies based in five main marinas.

On Fridays and Saturdays, the docks are buzzing with activity as suitcases are rolled in, supermarket carts are filled up, repairs are made, and fuel tanks are topped off in preparation for the start of your sailing vacation.

Main Marinas in Athens

Alimos Marina

Coordinates: 37° 54.75′ N, 23° 42.22′ E

Alimos Marina is one of the largest marinas in Greece, located southwest of Athens, about a 20-minute drive from the city centre and 40 minutes from the airport. Renovations are planned in the coming years, so the charter company’s bases are currently around the piers in temporary buildings. You can find the exact location on Google Maps.

Zea Marina

Coordinates: 37° 56.23′ N, 23° 38.90′ E

Zea Marina, a mega-yacht marina with a rich history, is located in Piraeus on the east coast. It is a crowded marina with plenty of shopping options and numerous restaurants.

Lavrion Marina & Olympic Marina

Lavrion Marina Coordinates: 37° 42.72′ N, 24° 3.45′ E

Olympic Marina Coordinates: 37° 42.72′ N, 24° 3.78′ E

Southeast of Athens, a 30-minute drive from the airport, lies the town of Lavrion, home to two marinas: Port Lavrion and Olympic Marina. These marinas are great starting points for sailing in the Cyclades and the Gulf of Evia area.
