Port of entry · VHF Ch 16 to marine police before entering · fishermen still deliver fresh morning catch · ~30 NM E of Paphos · 50 NM SW of Karpaz Peninsula
Latchi is the quiet NW port of Cyprus — and the natural first landfall for yachts crossing from the Greek Aegean or the Turkish Lycian Coast. The port sits at 35°02′.5N · 32°23′.9E on the W edge of the Akamas Peninsula — Cyprus’s last truly wild stretch of undeveloped coast. The atmosphere is still authentically maritime: the local fishermen deliver in their fresh catch every morning + supply those who are lucky enough to have got up early enough that day. In the past few years, due to its ever-growing facilities + amenities, Latchi has become a popular stopping point for yachts after the Greek Isles + Turkey — but it has retained its quiet character. For sailors: Latchi is a designated port of entry for the Republic of Cyprus · call the marine police on VHF Ch 16 before entering. Max draft 3.5 m. Visitors berths: 40. The harbour facilities are still developing — toilets + showers were under construction at the time of SeaTV’s visit. Plan to provision in the village (Latchi has cafés + restaurants + small shops) and for major refits to head SE to Paphos or further to Limassol.
⚠ Reality check before you arrive:
→ ⚠ Call VHF Ch 16 for marine police before entering · port-of-entry protocol
→ ⚠ Max draft 3.5 m · check yacht draft before commitment
→ ⚠ Limited shore facilities · toilets + showers still in construction at SeaTV visit · charge devices + fill water before arrival
→ ⚠ ROC port of entry · do NOT sail directly from TRNC ports (Karpaz / Kyrenia) — must clear out via Turkey or Greece first
→ Schengen status: Cyprus is in the EU but NOT in Schengen — passport-stamp on arrival
→ Currency: Euro (€)
