Take a walk in the town between luxury shops and packed restaurants; climb to Castello Brown, or go to the lighthouse – the sights are breathtaking.

Mooring Information

Mooring in Portofino is problematic, especially if you haven’t already booked. Some places are available to anchor in calm weather, and there are marinas not far away.

The white lighthouse on Punta Portofino stands out. A castle is on the south side of the entrance.

• Larger yachts may have to anchor with a long line ashore
• Limited moorings are reserved for visitors
• Make sure to have an alternative plan in the summer as the harbour is very popular

Shelter can be uncomfortable due to swell from E or NE winds and the big tourist boats coming in and out of the harbour. In calm weather, a yacht can anchor on the north side of the entrance up to Send Cane with a long line ashore in 10-20m on mud and weed.

0487 We anchored in a lovely spot for a night, and the day after sailed for 6 miles to Marina Lavagna, where we rented a car and drove to Portofino. You can also take a train. It’s a beautiful road, passing Rapallo and Santa Margherita Ligure with spectacular landscapes.

Another fantastic place not to be missed is Camogli, with good restaurants, cute shops, a wide beach, and a nice walkway full of stairs.
