Cala Figuera: Mallorca’s Picturesque Fishing Village

Overview

Cala Figuera is a picturesque fishing village located in the southeastern part of Mallorca, about 60 km from Palma. This charming district of Santanyí has managed to preserve its traditional character despite the island’s tourism boom.

Coordinates: 39°19’53.7″N 3°10’13.5″E

Cala Figuera port is a unique Mallorcan fjord on the southeast side of the island. It is filled with a large fishing fleet but offers few docking places, which are among the most inexpensive on the island.

Scenic Beauty and Local Charm

The village is renowned for its stunning fjord-like inlet, featuring a scenic harbour flanked by whitewashed houses with green shutters. High cliffs and pine-covered hills provide a dramatic backdrop, making it one of the most photogenic spots in Mallorca.

With a permanent population of around 577 residents, Cala Figuera offers a glimpse into authentic Mallorcan coastal life. Its unique atmosphere is shaped by its working fishing port, traditional architecture, and absence of large-scale tourist developments.
