Fethiye- Oludeniz Gemiler Adasi Karacaören

Oludeniz 36°32.55′N 29°06.64′E

Oludeniz is a beautiful land locked lagoon surrounded by high mountains, and preceded to the SE by a long stretch of white sand with many restaurants, hotels, bars, beach cafes, and camping grounds. The approach to the enclosed bay is located E of the Gemiler Adasi bay. The lagoon itself has been prohibited for yacht (and dinghy) anchorage since 1983 for nature preservation reasons. However, it is possible to lay anchor at a relatively open anchorage to the SW of the lagoon entrance, just around the corner from Yogun Burnu, at 15-20 m with a line to the cliff on the W side. The land offers good shelter from the Meltemi winds, but a swell can work its way around the corner, and at night a katabatic wind may come down from the mountains on the NE making mooring uncomfortable.

We anchored on sand in 7m for a swim and a nice lunch

There are lots of restaurants ashore

We paid a fee for entering the lagoon

In calm weather for a nice lunch

Open to the prevailing winds

Butterfly Valley is a nature reserve with a secluded bay.

There are excellent quiet deep water anchorages around the area of Gemiler Adasi.

Gemiler Adasi & nearby anchorages

You can anchor between the island & the mainland with a long line ashore.

We chose to pick up a restaurant buoy for the night :
