Greater Genoa extends in an unbroken line along the shore from Voltri, with towering apartment blocks lining the coast to the west of central Genoa.

From the west, look for Cristoforo Colombo Airport. The exhibition centre is a notable landmark from the southeast, and from the north, the lighthouse serves as a guide.

By night, use the lighthouse signals: Fl(2)20s117m25M and Oc.R.1.5s119m10M.
